DOCTOR GOES TO GUYANA: Violin MD Visits Dialysis Clinic

15 Просмотры
Join me as I travel from Canada to Guyana to visit a dialysis clinic! I'm a Canadian resident doctor and I was fortunately enough to travel to Georgetown, Guyana before the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm bringing you into a real dialysis clinic where we are taking care of patients and hearing their stories. These patients have kidney failure and require dialysis treatments to treatments that are expensive and require highly trained medical staff. Currently there aren't any kidney specialists in Guyana, so Canadian nephrologists have been travelling to Guyana for the past 10 years to take care of these patients.

Global health is an exciting area of medicine that aims to achieve equity in health care for all people worldwide. One of the key principles is finding solutions that are sustainable, which is something we discuss in this video!

All patients who were filmed provided their consent.

Thank you so much
- the incredible patients who shared their stories
- Dr. Doobay (retired vascular surgeon, founder of Doobay Medical Centre)
- Dr. Ingram (nephrologist, chief of medicine at St. Joseph Hamilton Healthcare)
- nurse Sasha
- my husband Mark (best camera man!)
- and to all of you for watching!!
