Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry unveils new modelling data Thursday amid a substantial jump in COVID-19 cases in British Columbia.

In the latest modelling numbers, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says the cases of COVID-19 are set to double over the next 13 days without significant changes in people’s behaviour.

The growth of the virus continues to be worst in Fraser Health, followed by Vancouver Coastal Health. The other health authorities continue to have moderate growth or the spread of the virus.

At her Thursday briefing, Dr. Bonnie Henry said 155 people were in hospital with the virus. The previous record of 149 was recorded in the first week of April.

Forty-four people were in critical or intensive care. The province added 1,130 cases over two days, 536 on Wednesday and 594 on Thursday — the latter also an all-time record. There were four new deaths, bringing the total to 288.
